2 4 LORIZ (C036) V Borges CP-/TT- Began very fast to assume lead, headed on outside at the 1000m before regathering lead from the 800m. Continued in lead until being headed by winner at the 200m. Fought gamely to hold second, length clear of 3rd.
3 2 CHAIRMAN LO (C062) J Moreira B Shifted across after the start before improving to midfield between runners from the 1000m. Eased 4 wide approaching the home corner before finishing off steadily to third place inside the last furlong.
4 1 SMILING CITY (D113) K H Chan P-/CP2/SR2 Improved after the start but left 3 wide without cover just behind the leading pair. A length from the lead on straightening before emptying out at the 200m & giving a length or two late after wide passage.
5 8 CASIMIRO (C149) B Shinn -- Raced in midfield, 3 wide with cover throughout. Moved wider on straightening, 2L from the lead entering final section but could offer no more in last 250m & was well held in midfield.
6 14 MOTHER WISHES (B474) M L Yeung TT Crowded on jumping before shifting back behind runners to race at the tail. Had only one behind on cornering before drifting out in the straight when making late ground to midfield. Sound effort considering race shape.
7 10 DOUBLE TAKE (D205) N Callan -- Hampered at start & lost ground before improving position along the rail to midfield. Stayed close to the inside on cornering but peaked on effort at the 250m & gave a few lengths late.
8 3 STARLIGHT (V273) G van Niekerk -- Shifted behind runners to settle second last. Relegated back to last on cornering, moved the widest runner on straightening before making up some ground from the rear in a race that shaped to suit on-pace.
9 12 WITNESS HUNTER (B421) C Schofield SR Began only fairly & consequently raced third form last on inside. Stayed close to the inside on cornering, but could make no headway once tested in the final 300m. Well held.
10 11 FOREVER SHARP (C467) M Chadwick TT Enjoyed good run in midfield between runners. Shuffled a few positions further back on cornering but could make no further headway in the straight & was well held.
11 13 BABY STORM (C500) M F Poon H/TT Hard ridden from wide barrier, improved to assume lead from the 1000m before racing outside leader from the 800m. Hard ridden on cornering before peaking soon after & weakening out in straight.
12 6 FLYING PHOTOS (D028) H N Wong B Crowded at start, rushed forward after 100m, before being restrained when awkwardly positioned. Lost ground when racing greenly, consequently 6L from lead at the 800m. Weakened significantly in last section & was well beaten.
13 9 RED ZOFFANY (D211) K C Leung TT Had a good run in third, away from rail with cover in early & middle stages. Only two lengths from lead on cornering but began yielding ground soon after straightening & tailed out in the straight to be well beaten.
14 7 FORTUNATE RUNNER (A292) C Y Ho CP/TT Began well before drifting back after the start to race worse than midfield, wide & with cover throughout. Forced wider near the 650m before cornering very wide. Weakened out badly in last section & was long last.
