Disadvantaged by heavy ground when 4.4 lengths 5th to Moss ‘n’ Dale in G3 Craven Plate (2000m) at Randwick on 13 October. That followed 2 lengths 2nd to Ace High in G2 Hill Stakes (2000m) at Randwick on 29 September on good ground. Back to 1600m no issue. Ran third in this race last year.

Caught wide under top weight and had tough run when 1.8 lengths 4th to Bondeiger in Inglis Cup (Handicap) at Caulfield 2000m on 30 September. Finished handy fifths in two previous runs in this distance range. Any rain would increase chances.

Sovereign Nation

Sound effort when 2.9 lengths 5th to Eckstein in Listed Headquarters Handicap (1400m) at Flemington on 6 October. Should be near best after two runs this season and won only previous start this course and distance.

Duca Valentinois

Scoped with mucus after 6.6 lengths 7th to Iconoclasm in the Listed Weekend Hussler Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on 13 October. Untried at this track but has good record at the distance and can improve on latest effort.

Lycurgus

Stayer who hasn’t raced since July when 1.8 lengths 3rd to Falago in 2600m Banjo Paterson Handicap at Flemington. Finished midfield at 1700m on soft ground at most recent fresh run. Placed in 990m barrier trial on 8 October.

Snoano

Not raced since June when 12.4 lengths 12th to Lite’n in My Veins in Moonee Valley 2040m Handicap on soft ground. Import who ran well fresh at 1400m at Australian debut in April and may be improved after further time to acclimatise.

Sir John Lavery

Blocked for clear run in straight at first start in Australia when 3 lengths 6th to Eckstein in Listed Headquarters Handicap (1400m) at Flemington on 6 October. Dual winner at this distance in the UK and advantaged if ground is soft.

Cliff’s Edge

Excellent on pace performance in fast run race when 3.4 lengths 5th to stablemate Land Of Plenty in G1 Toorak Handicap (1600m) at Caulfield on 13 October. Suited this track and should run very well.

Slow to begin and ran on well when 1.75 lengths 3rd to Land Of Plenty in G1 Toorak Handicap (1600m) at Caulfield on 13 October. That is strong recommendation for this race.

Overcame interference in short neck win from Sully in Listed Cranbourne Cup (2025m) on 14 October. Switches back in distance and faces rise in class but in form.
