Kranji Mile S1 - 7, 25/05/2019, Saturday Post Time 20:05

1

Southern Legend

Inaugural winner of this race in 2018 back for his title defence. Arrives in top form after a consistent season and stands out as the horse to beat again with champion jockey Zac Purton in the saddle.

2

Debt Collector

Local champion who is the winner of 12 of his 23 starts (five at SIN G1 level); including wins at his last four starts. His get back, run on pattern is against him here but he appears the best local hope of a victory.

3

War Affair

Former champion galloper who has been plagued by injury. Has not won a race since May 2017 and it appears his best days are behind him.

4

Singapore Sling

Enters this race off the back of a career-best performance in the G1 Champions Mile (1600m) at Sha Tin when finishing 2nd to Hong Kong champion Beauty Generation. A repeat of that effort gives him undeniable claims.

5

Countofmontecristo

Former champion three-year-old who has endured a frustrating run of minor places, including finishing 2nd to Debt Collector at his last two starts. Must be rated a top four chance.

6

Blizzard

Former Hong Kong galloper who now calls Singapore home, where he has scored one win from six starts. This rising eight-year-old is yet to win over 1600m and place chances appear best.

7

Preditor

Consistent galloper who had every chance when 5th in the SIN G3 Moonbeam Vase (1600m). Likes to get back and charge home but a win would be surprising.

8

Elite Excalibur

Returned to his best form last start when winning the SIN G3 Moonbeam Vase (1600m) in fast time. Finished 11th in this race last year to Southern Legend but is capable of running better this year.

9

King Louis

Quality four-year-old who finished 2nd in the SIN G1 Singapore Guineas (1600m) before winning the SIN G3 El Dorado Classic (2000m) last year. Had genuine excuses last start in the SIN Group 3 Moonbeam Vase (1600m) when the saddle slipped and he suffered severe racing interference in the home straight. He looks the dark horse in the race.

10

Makanani

Japanese-bred mare who appears out of her depth. Had every chance when 6th in the SIN G3 Moonbeam Vase (1600m) and hard to see her figuring here.
