Prix du Jockey Club S2 - 1, 05/07/2020, Sunday Post Time 21:10

1

Dawn Intello

Has run to a similar level in all his starts including when outpacing his rivals at Deauville last month. Probably not good enough.

2

Fantastic Spirit

Has won his last two starts latterly narrowly scoring in Listed company at Bordeaux. Despite his trainer’s great record in this, he is not easy to fancy.

3

Gold Trip

Looks progressive judging by the way he quickened up to win a G2 at Lyon last month. All his form is on slow ground and that may be needed for him to impact here.

4

Chachnak

The winner of three of his seven starts including a G3 trial for this here last month, patiently ridden before pouncing though with only a length covering the first five.

5

Mishriff

Versatile as well as talented having run second on the dirt in the Saudi Derby Cup at Riyadh, then beating better fancied rivals on fast turf over 2000m at Newmarket.

6

Victor Ludorum

The best French youngster of 2019, and though beaten in a G3 on his return, he restored his reputation with a decisive Deauville G1 win, his stamina helpful over that 1600m. May be even better over this 2100m.

7

San Fabrizio

Appeared to handle the testing ground better than his rivals when winning at Lyon. Then didn’t have a clear run in a G3 here but still a disappointing favourite.

8

Pisanello

A heavy ground Listed winner at Saint-Cloud in March but, though not disgraced in two subsequent starts, looks vulnerable at this level.

9

Celtic Art

Out of a mare who stayed well so this trip should be fine. UK stable in very good form, but Celtic Art will need to improve plenty on his 2019 form.

10

The Summit

A clever front-running display saw him beat better fancied rivals in a G3 at Longchamp and he then ran Victor Ludorum a good second in a 1600m G1 at Deauville. Not certain to stay.

11

Fort Myers

This Classic prize has so far always eluded his great Irish stable. Well beaten in a G1 on his only 2020 start.

12

Port Guillaume

Takes a hike in class but has done nothing wrong in winning all three starts latterly over same trip to this at Saint-Cloud. His stable have won this in three of the last four years.

13

Ocean Atlantique

This Chantilly Classic came firmly on to the agenda of this long-striding colt after he had led throughout to easily win a 2000m Listed event at Deauville.

14

Order Of Australia

Ran a good fourth – behind three stable companions – in last weekend’s Irish Derby. Not an obvious winner but this drop back in trip might help.

15

Hurricane Dream

From a lesser known stable but he has won all three starts most significantly when showing too much finishing kick for five rivals here.

16

Ecrivain

Fancied for a 1600m G1 Classic success at Deauville after a very encouraging G3 Lonchamp second, but he ran a shocker for no apparent reason.

17

Pao Alto

Under pressure some way out but he kept responding and proved too strong for subsequent Listed winner Ocean Atlantique in a G3 at Longchamp in May.
