Deirdre

Has an abundance of worldwide experience, her last win coming when landing a shock success in a Goodwood G1 in 2019. Probably just short of the qualities needed to win the Arc.

Enable

An equine superstar with 11 G1 wins - including dual Arc success - she suffered a rare defeat on her 2020 return but nothing in two wins since to suggest that she hasn’t got a major chance of a historic third Arc success.

Gold Trip

Tactically versatile, and always prominent when winning a soft ground G2 at Lyon in June, and a good third in a G1 here last month. Probably not quite good enough. 

In Swoop

A lightly-raced colt who sprang a surprise when delivering a powerful stretch surge to win the G1 Deutsches Derby at Hamburg in July. Strong late headway again when second in a G1 over this course and distance last month.

Japan

Had an excellent time in 2019 including when easily repelling rivals in a G1 here plus a very respectable fourth in this race. But hard to fancy on the basis of mostly modest efforts this year. 

Mogul

Big and strong, fulfilling his potential recently with two of his last three runs resulting in excellent wins over this distance, latterly when well in command in the closing stages of a G1 here last month.

Persian King

Has won eight of his 12 starts and his G1 defeat of some champion 1600m horses here last month - under a superb tactical ride from Boudot - was a clear career-best. Has a high cruising speed, but has he the stamina for 2400m?

Raabihah

This smart filly has yet to run a bad race and, though without a G1 success so far, she hasn’t been beaten far on either attempt. Second here last month when the sedate gallop made her closing tactics hard to achieve.

Royal Julius

Yet to win at anything like this level though he did win a valuable conditions’ race in Bahrain last year. Always prominent when runner-up in a G2 at San Siro last month.

Serpentine

Having grabbed an early lead, rival jockeys expected this colt - who had only previously won a maiden - to fade out but instead he galloped on powerfully to gain a famous 5 1/2L victory in the G1 Derby at Epsom. By no means disgraced in a G1 here last month. Supplemented.

Sottsass

Enjoyed a terrific 2019 including winning the Prix du Jockey Club and doing best of the three-year-olds when third in the Arc. A G1 Chantilly winner this June, though generally not quite at his best in 2020.

Sovereign

Aggressive tactics produced a sensational career best when winning the 2019 G1 Irish Derby. Nothing as good since, and crushed by Enable in a three-runner G1 at Ascot in July.

Stradivarius

Hasn’t won over a distance as short as this since 2017 but this supremely tough champion stayer - a seven-times G1 winner - was only just beaten over it in an Arc trial last month, and the more hectic pace expected on Sunday can help.

Way To Paris

A seven-year-old still capable of big efforts, closing from the rear to win a Saint-Cloud G1 - albeit a weak one – in June. Never threatened in the 2018 Arc.
