G1 - 2000m - Turf

1

Rainbow Bridge

Winner of this race in 2019 and runner-up last year, this son of Ideal World has to be a massive contender this year. He loves Kenilworth and has not finished out of the first four at this course.

2

Do It Again

He was runner-up to Rainbow Bridge in 2019 and last year went off the boil. Appears to be recapturing his old form and looked good in the Queen’s Plate. Top jockey in Anton Marcus and will be right there when it matters.

3

Belgarion

Ended his streak of six wins since having been gelded when third in the Queen’s Plate but will benefit from the extra 400m this time. Drawn widest of all but that is not a concern over this distance. He is the horse to beat.

4

Cirillo

A talented runner but he has not won over further than 1400m although he did run a close third to Golden Ducat in the G1 Champions Cup over 1800m. Blinkers are off, and milers do have a good record in this race.

5

African Night Sky

A top three-year-old, but then suffered a serious injury and was out for over two years. Has raced three times since and finished third to Golden Ducat in the G2 Premier Trophy. Place chance.

6

Sovereign Spirit

Is well held by Belgarion on a number of runs and has a lot to find on Golden Ducat, Rainbow Bridge, Cirillo and Do It Again on their Champions Cup clash. Looks an optimistic entry and will battle to run a place.

7

Golden Ducat

A half-brother to Rainbow Bridge who beat his sibling by a short head in the G1 Champions Cup over 1800m at Greyville. He is in peak condition and has champion jockey Warren Kennedy up. A definite contender.

8

Silver Operator

Lightly raced four-year-old is highly regarded by his stable, but based on his run in the G1 Queen’s Plate, looks to have little chance of winning this. He is badly out at the weights and needs improvement to feature.

9

Queen Supreme

Impressive winner of the G1 Paddock Stakes for the second time. Mike de Kock chose this race rather than the G1 Majorca Stakes as she is well handicapped. A big runner who must be included in all bets.

10

Running Brave

This mare will keep them honest as she is a strong frontrunner who will ensure a decent pace. However, this is her first run at Kenilworth, and she travels from Johannesburg.

11

Princess Calla

She would be only the second three-year-old filly in more than 100 years to win. Carries just 113lb, has loads of ability, will love the distance and has in-form Grant van Niekerk up. Not to be taken lightly.
