Queen Alexandra Stakes S5 - 7, 22/06/2024, Saturday Post Time 25:15

4330m - Turf

1

Trueshan

One of Britain’s top stayers and a triple winner of the G2 Long Distance Cup here. Has been steadily finding his feet this season but he tends to be at his best on soft ground.

2

Dawn Rising

Back to defend his crown and warmed up for this with a fair fifth behind a top stayer in G3 company at Leopardstown.

3

Fasol

This French import is currently with a top jumping yard. However, some of his flat form makes for good reading and namely his second in the G3 Prix Gladiateur.

4

Magellan Strait

Created a 150-1 upset in top Irish staying handicap in 2023, but he ran poorly in the Chester Cup (15th). Smart on his day but prone to the odd lapse in form.

5

Postileo

Far from disgraced when fourth at 25-1 behind top Irish stayer and very much a player if he can build on that.

6

Run For Oscar

Will be out to improve on his 2023 third in this same race, and two runs in his native Ireland against classier opposition should have sharpened him up nicely for this.

7

Tashkhan

Signed off last season with a decent third in a French G1. Clearly retains plenty of ability but as yet unraced this season.

8

Uxmal

Clearly smart. His second in a French Listed race last September makes for good reading and winning return at Killarney also bodes well for his chances.

9

Drawn To Dream

Has shown smart form in Germany at Listed/G3 level but difficult to assess on debut run for British trainer.

10

Maxident

Useful in his class and has run two good races in defeat this season but very much up against it on the ratings.

11

Nachtgeist

The German recruit has a modest record in both codes and it’s difficult to make a case for him.

12

Ndaawi

Backs up quickly after finishing seventh in a staying handicap on Tuesday and others have stronger claims.

13

Queenstown

Lightly raced and improving fast judged on successive seconds behind Ireland’s top stayer. Very much the one to beat.

14

Grand Providence

Ran a fair race in the Chester Cup (fifth). He wasn’t beaten far (2.3 lengths) and he also got bumped. Has a good profile for a race such as this.
