Calif |
Ex-German now trained in France. Very useful level up to a mile in Germany, scored over this trip at G3 level in ParisLongchamp latest. Top German jockey booked. Respected. |
2 |
Downtown |
Likely pacemaker for stable companion Penalty, and something to find on ratings. |
3 |
Fantastic Moon |
2023 German Derby (G1, 2400m) winner. Beaten favourite when 2nd in this last year. Highest rated horse in the race and this may well be his ideal trip. |
4 |
Muhalif |
Yet to win above Listed level and has been campaigned over various trips. No win in five starts this term, and first try over 2000m saw him well beaten last time. This looks tough. |
5 |
Straight |
Yet to recapture the form he had shown before last year´s Derby (where he started favourite but was soundly beaten). Stable jockey chooses Westminster Moon and this looks tough. |
6 |
Westminster Moon |
Rated 5kg below Straight but still the choice of stable jockey Eduardo Pedroza, a veteran of the German jockey scene. Trained in Poland before (now in Germany with top trainer) and latest place in Hamburg G3 clearly a career-best but another step up needed. |
7 |
Quantanamera |
Sole filly in the line-up. The world seemed her oyster when 2-2 at 2yo, but hasn’t won since. Trainer convinced she is better left-handed and, though better in with Westminster Moon for latest defeat (in 3rd and 4th), she can only be rated an outsider. |
8 |
Penalty |
Son of Frankel and one of two 3yos in the line-up. Second in German 2000 Guineas (form hard to assess) and scored against elders in G3. Bang there on ratings and a very interesting contender in his toughest assignment yet. |
9 |
Wintertraum |
A 3yo with three wins from four starts before midfield finish in the German Derby. Step back in trip should suit on breeding and new jockey booked; clearly smart and chance if pre-Derby progress continues. |
