Nassau Stakes S3 - 4, 01/08/2024, Thursday Post Time 22:35
1 |
Doha |
Galloped powerfully up the Ascot straight when beating 23 rivals in a 1600m handicap in June, then coming close to winning a Listed event at Pontefract. Plenty to find on ratings but an improving filly. |
2 |
Emily Upjohn |
Her two G1 wins came over further than this, but this tough and classy mare is very effective over this trip and looked a certain winner when kicking for home in a 2000m G1 at the Curragh in June only to be mowed down late on. |
3 |
Lady Boba |
Tries G1 company for the first time but her figures suggest that she is still improving with her third in a G2 at Haydock in July being a personal best. Has stamina and will want a brisk pace at this trip. |
4 |
Lumiere Rock |
A prominent ride saw her at the top of her game when landing a 2000m G2 at the Curragh last September. Hasn’t matched that effort in two G1 starts this season and will need to be stronger at the finish here. |
5 |
Novus |
Has won four of her 15 starts, including when thriving on soft ground to land a 2000m G3 at Newmarket last October. But unless the ground is testing here, it would be a surprise if she could get into the money. |
6 |
Stay Alert |
Has generally struggled when facing G1 company barring a good second over 2000m at the Curragh last year. She did however win a G2 at Newmarket in May then uncomfortable on slow ground at the Curragh. |
7 |
Elmalka |
Despite getting unbalanced, she finished powerfully to win a 1600m G1 Newmarket Classic on just her third career start. Not quite quick enough at Royal Ascot when she indicated that the move up to this trip was now required. |
8 |
Opera Singer |
This classy G1 winner – who was a close G1 second at Royal Ascot - will be formidable here provided the rise to this trip proves a plus which her great trainer believes it will. Handles quick ground but slower preferred. |
9 |
See The Fire |
Has been ambitiously campaigned, running in G1 company in all three earlier 2024 starts. However, she hasn’t proved good enough for the top grade so far. |
10 |
Sparkling Plenty |
This progressive French-trained filly improved further for the move up to 2100m when delivering a powerful run down the outside to beat 13 rivals in a G1 Classic at Chantilly in June. |
