Flying Five Stakes S3 - 2, 15/09/2024, Sunday Post Time 22:35
1 |
Big Gossey |
An eight-times winner who is hugely experienced at this track, including over this trip. But more a handicapper than a G1 sprinter. |
2 |
Bradsell |
A super-fast speedster who returned from an absence to win both starts this season, latterly always travelling well to gain a second G1 triumph at York. Strong chance. |
3 |
Desperate Hero |
A specialist at this pure-speed trip and too fast for his rivals twice in handicaps this year. Could outrun his odds but a win is unlikely. |
4 |
Go Athletico |
Good efforts on this track including a 1200m G3 victory in 2023 but unless the ground comes up very soft it is hard to give him much chance at this level. |
5 |
Go Bears Go |
Back in 2021 he won a G2 here, and a G3 winner here since. But those were over 1200m, and unlikely to have quite enough speed for this G1 challenge. |
6 |
Kerdos |
A high class sprinter who won a 1000m soft-ground G2 at Haydock in May. Winning here unlikely but probably won’t be far from the money. |
7 |
Moss Tucker |
Galloped on strongly up the hill to win this last year, favoured by the rain-softened ground. Winning hopes again if it rides slow here. |
8 |
Washington Heights |
Obviously needs to improve on his sixth to Bradsell in a York G1 on his latest start. A 1200m G3 winner in April but may struggle for speed here. |
9 |
Bucanero Fuerte |
A brilliant sprinter and winner of four of his seven starts including a 1200m G1 here in 2023. Would have an even bigger chance at that 1200m trip. |
10 |
Givemethebeatboys |
Twice a winner at the Curragh – including a brave G3 victory last month - but those were both at 1200m and well beaten in a G1 last time. |
11 |
Jasour |
A high class sprinter though his G3 and G2 victories were both over 1200m. Sometimes slow from the gates and he won't be able to afford that here. |
12 |
Ano Syra |
Twice a winner of handicaps over this course and distance back in 2022. But it would be a huge shock if she won this. |
13 |
Believing |
Showed terrific speed to win a G2 over this course and distance in July, and two near misses in top sprinting company since. Live chances. |
14 |
Makarova |
Very effective over this trip when the ground is soft, as she showed when landing a G3 at Sandown in July. Little chance on quicker ground. |
15 |
Matilda Picotte |
Of her 17 career starts this will be her first try at 1000m, so chances are some other pure speedsters will prove too quick. But she is fast from the gates. |
16 |
Vadream |
Would want a properly soft surface to have any chance here. Plenty of G1 attempts with little to show for them so far. |
17 |
Beautiful Diamond |
All speed and twice a Listed winner over this trip. Ran the race of her life when second to Believing in a G2 here in July. Well worth a crack at this. |
18 |
She's Quality |
Will be an outsider, raised in class here. But she does come here off a convincing win, prominent from the gates with an easy 1000m Listed win. |
