| Brett Davis was introduced to Australian Racing by his father back in the early 1980’s when his family became involved in formulating “Thoroughbred Racing Syndications”. Brett worked from 1995 as a Professional Form Analysts and Race Broadcaster with an array of companies throughout most parts of the Australia Racing industry. He currently resides in Adelaide, his hometown in Australia, where he is Chief Thoroughbred Race Caller and Form Analyst for Tabcorp / SkyChannel / RadioTAB. Brett Davis also spent 2 years with the Singapore Turf Club and 13 Racing Seasons with the Hong Kong Jockey Club between 2006 to 2019 as a leading Form Analyst / Race Caller and was the HKJC Chief Race Caller from 2014, calling the last 5 Hong Kong International (Turf World Championships) race meetings and over 50 G1 races. Brett has immense passion for Australian Racing both personally and professionally. With his diverse knowledge and long standing industry relations he’s a valuable asset to racing and it’s enthusiasts. | |
Caulfield Racecourse – Track Analysis (Futurity Stakes Day):
Caulfield Racecourse is one of the four major racecourses in Melbourne and is located nine kilometres from the city’s CBD in the southeastern part of the city. It plays host to major races like the Caulfield Guineas and Caulfield Cup in the spring, while the Blue Diamond Stakes Day meeting is its feature meeting in autumn and is one of the best race meetings in Melbourne in the first half of the year.. Caulfield is a relatively tight turning left-handed track, with a circumference of 2080m, and a home straight length of 367m.
This year, five races from the Futurity Stakes Day will be simulcast to Hong Kong.
Feature Race
G1 Futurity Stakes (1400m)
Run over 1400m, the featured race G1 Futurity Stakes begins from a chute start where the field quickly has a short run to the first turn. As a result of that quick run to the first turn, horses drawn out wide are at a distinct disadvantage.
Other Races
G3 Mannerism Stakes (1400m)
The G3 Mannerism Stakes is run over 1400m, which is the same distance as the G1 Futurity Stakes.
G1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m)
Run over 1200m, the Blue Diamond Stakes starts at the chute in the top left corner of Caulfield. The field has a long run of around 800m before they get to the one and only turn in the race, which takes them into the homestretch.
G1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m)
The 1100m G1 Oakleigh Plate starts from the same chute as the Blue Diamond Stakes. As a group one sprint handicap that regularly attracts a large field, this race is renowned for being run at a frantic tempo. History shows that inside to middle barrier draws have held some slight advantage in this race.
Listed Victoria Gold Cup (2000m)
Run over 2000m, the listed Victoria Gold Cup begins from the bottom right corner of the course, with the runners in this event to face a gradual uphill climb until the top of the track at around the 1400m mark. They then turn off the back section of the course at the 1000m mark and have a long 600m run before they get to the home turn with 400m to go.
Hot and dry conditions are forecast leading up to Futurity Stakes Day and on the day itself, so it’s likely that the meeting will be run on a good track. The main track at Caulfield has had a long break following the spring and has only held one meeting since then, therefore, it should be in excellent condition for Futurity Stakes Day.
