Racing Incident Report

HOI POLLOI jumped awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with SPARTAN. LOOK WHO'S ANGEL left the gates a little awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of STOIC. Apprentice C T Cheng (AFFAIRE D'AMOUR) said the horse stood well after being boxed, but then when the gates opened it reared and as a consequence came out awkwardly and lost considerable ground. For a short distance just after the 200 Metres, HAPPY BOY raced tight inside TOP QUALITY. In the run to the winning post, LUCKY VICTORIES had a tendency to hang in. Apprentice K H Yu (TOP QUALITY) was reminded of his obligation to ride all his mounts out at least hands and heels right to the winning post whenever possible. S Dye (FAITHFUL ASSURANCE) explained the Assistant Trainer had instructed him to ride the horse somewhere about 5th to 6th position if possible and to ensure he rode on the outside as it has been established in the past that the horse is reluctant to travel when amongst other runners. S Dye said from an outside gate the horse came out well and to travel in the race where instructed he said he would have been covering a lot of ground and in the circumstances in which he found himself early, he decided to steady to a rearward position and endeavoured to find running over the concluding stages. He said FAITHFUL ASSURANCE travelled well and in the Straight found the line strongly whilst making ground through the field. AFFAIRE D'AMOUR and TOP QUALITY were sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
