Racing Incident Report

REAL WINNER, second Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 6.9.02 on veterinary grounds (lame right fore). Before racing again, REAL WINNER will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. On jumping, STOIC threw its head about, then shifted in to take up a position towards the rear but closer to the rail. Just after straightening, JUST TOO GOOD and SALUZI bumped as JUST TOO GOOD was endeavouring to shift to the outside of DISTINCTION. D Whyte (PREMIER SPEED) said the horse hung out badly throughout, just after straightening commenced to make abnormal breathing noises, continued to do so down the running and was badly unbalanced on pulling up. PREMIER SPEED was sent for sampling and a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, the Veterinary Officer said in his opinion PREMIER SPEED was a roarer (laryngeal hemiplegia). Before being allowed to race again, PREMIER SPEED will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and must pass an official veterinary examination. BEST FOR ALL and MASTER MAGIC were sent for sampling.
