Racing Incident Report

L'ENFANT was slow to begin and shortly afterwards was steadied when crowded for room between BEEP BEEP and RIGHT FRAAR which got its head on the side and shifted in away from MILLENNIUM SUPREME. PREMIER CRU was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, PERFECT GALLANT was steadied when crowded for room between KINGSTON GLORY and STAR OF NORTHERN which shifted in. At the 1200 Metres, MULTI RANSOM was steadied away from the heels of RIGHT FRAAR which momentarily shifted in. Approaching the turn at the 800 Metres, MILLENNIUM DAWN commenced to over-race and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of MILLENNIUM SUPREME. Near the 800 Metres, MULTI RANSOM got its head up and lost ground when being steadied away from the heels of PLEDGE OF HONOR which itself steadied away from the heels of THE FACULTY. No action was taken. For some distance near the 600 Metres, KINGSTON GLORY was awkwardly placed close to the heels of PLEDGE OF HONOR. Because of this, KINGSTON GLORY was steadied and caused some crowding on its inside to PERFECT GALLANT. After the 600 Metres, PERFECT GALLANT got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of PREMIER CRU. Also after the 600 Metres, MULTI RANSOM was awkwardly placed and unable to improve inside the heels of RIGHT FRAAR. In the early part of the Straight, PREMIER CRU, which was having difficulty obtaining clear running, was steadied and shifted to the outside of TIMBER CITY. Near the 300 Metres, RIGHT FRAAR was momentarily crowded for room between MILLENNIUM SUPREME and MULTI RANSOM which shifted out. When questioned regarding the poor performance of MILLENNIUM DAWN, Apprentice H W Lai said he was unable to offer an explanation. He said in the early stages MILLENNIUM DAWN travelled comfortably, however, when the pace steadied near the 1000 Metres the horse dropped the bit and did not travel as well. He said in the Straight MILLENNIUM DAWN failed to close the race off as he expected. MILLENNIUM DAWN was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of MILLENNIUM DAWN after the race did not show any significant findings. BEEP BEEP, which finished tailed out, was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, BEEP BEEP was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of blood in the horse's trachea. The performance of BEEP BEEP was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, BEEP BEEP will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. MULTI RANSOM, STAR OF NORTHERN and TELEPRIDE were sent for sampling.
