Racing Incident Report
FASTER FASTER was slow to begin. In the early stages, TREASURE RAIDERS from a wide barrier was allowed to drift back into a rearward position. In the middle stages, CHIMERA hung out. Also in the middle stages, TREASURE RAIDERS was carried wider by DAYLIGHT EXPRESS which was hanging out. At the 300 Metres, NAMJONG GOODLUCK, which was having difficulty obtaining clear running, was shifted to the outside of DIVINE TOUCH which was giving ground. Apprentice C W Wong (DAYLIGHT EXPRESS) said he was instructed if possible to have the horse settled in tonight’s race as in the past the horse has been somewhat disappointing when being made use of in the early stages and then failing to finish its races off. He said because of this he did not endeavour to have DAYLIGHT EXPRESS begin quickly and then did not ride along in the early stages. He said as a consequence DAYLIGHT EXPRESS was left travelling wide and without cover throughout the race and was again disappointing in the manner in which it responded to his riding in the Straight. When questioned, C K Tong (CHIMERA) said from the outside barrier he was instructed to ride the horse in a forward position if possible. Mr P F Yiu, trainer of CHIMERA, confirmed the riding instructions and said he was disappointed with the horse which was having its third start for his stable. He said he felt CHIMERA would not be able to be ridden in a rearward position as is usual in order to be successful tonight. It was therefore decided to make use of the horse in the early stages to obtain a forward position. He said it will be his intention to have CHIMERA ridden in a forward position in subsequent races on the All Weather surface. B Prebble (TREASURE RAIDERS) explained on straightening his mount which had been racing awkwardly shifted in slightly and was checked away from the heels of FASTER FASTER which shifted out slightly after initially being carried wider by ELEPHANT STAR. In the circumstances, no action was taken. KEEN TAKER was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, KEEN TAKER was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was mildly lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, KEEN TAKER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. DIVINE TOUCH and DAYLIGHT EXPRESS were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of DIVINE TOUCH and DAYLIGHT EXPRESS after the race did not show any significant findings. SUPER FIGHTER and CARE FREE MIDAS were sent for sampling.
