Racing Incident Report

DISPATCHER was crowded for room at the start between TRAVEL KING and HONOUR LIST, both of which shifted ground. CHATEAU DE CAIX (W C Marwing) was slow to begin. W C Marwing reported that when jumping away, CHATEAU DE CAIX overreached and he felt that the horse may have lost a plate in this incident. After the race, the Veterinary officer reported that CHATEAU DE CAIX had lost its right front plate. ABLE MAGIC was slow to begin and then shortly after the start was steadied away from the heels of SPACE RACE which shifted out. From a wide barrier, GO FAY FAY was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Approaching and passing the 900 Metres, ABLE MAGIC proved difficult to settle. At the 800 Metres, GO FAY FAY got its head up and proved difficult to settle when awkwardly placed close to the heels of MR AWARD. Passing the 600 Metres, FORTUNE TOGETHER, which was over-racing, improved inside the heels of GOLD WINNER where there was insufficient room. A short distance later, FORTUNE TOGETHER was checked away from the heels of GOLD WINNER. ABLE MAGIC, which was following, was hampered in consequence. DISPATCHER was momentarily held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight. DISPATCHER was then badly held up for clear running between the 300 Metres until passing the 100 Metres. Because of this, DISPATCHER was not properly tested. TRAVEL KING had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight. Near the 300 Metres, MY MEMORY, which was giving ground, was crowded for room between GOLD WINNER and TRAVEL KING which, when shifting to the outside of TOMODACHI to obtain clear running, was taken out slightly by that horse. ABLE MAGIC had difficulty obtaining clear running prior to the 300 Metres. Passing the 200 Metres, ABLE MAGIC was shifted out when disappointed for running between GOLD WINNER and FORTUNE TOGETHER. Over the concluding stages, ABLE MAGIC raced in restricted room between FORTUNE TOGETHER and GO FAY FAY. Throughout the race, TOMODACHI travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. A veterinary inspection of TOMODACHI after the race did not show any significant findings. Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that the riding of D Whyte (DISPATCHER) over the concluding stages did not affect the horse’s finishing position, he was nonetheless severely reprimanded for failing to ride the horse out to the end of the race as obligated. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that TRAVEL KING had lost its right hind plate. Also after the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that GO FAY FAY was lame in the left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, GO FAY FAY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. DISPATCHER, CARRY THE ZEAL and FORTUNE TOGETHER were sent for sampling.
