Racing Incident Report

Pla. Horse No. Horse Incident
1 3 SKY VINO (K054) In the early stages raced keenly and near the 1300 Metres was steadied to avoid SATIRICAL FAN. Sent for sampling post-race.
2 5 AMAZING AWARD (J236) Noted to have sustained an abrasion to the right hock on arrival at Happy Valley. Was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. Crowded at the start. Sent for sampling post-race.
3 2 VIVA GRACIOUSNESS (J079) Near the 1000 Metres was taken wider when SATIRICAL FAN shifted out. VIVA GRACIOUSNESS then raced wide and without cover for the remainder of the event.
4 11 RUN RUN TIMING (H403) No report.
5 8 ICONICAL (J504) No report.
6 10 FORTUNE STAR (K003) Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and bumped with AMAZING AWARD. In the early stages shifted in and away from AMAZING AWARD, made contact with I P O BROS and as a result was steadied. Lay in over the final 200 Metres. After the event L Hewitson reported that from a wide barrier he was instructed to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages. He said the instructions were issued to him on the basis that FORTUNE STAR had led at its most recent start and had performed in a disappointing manner. Trainer M Newnham confirmed the instructions issued.
7 1 THE AZURE (J227) From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Near the 600 Metres was steadied to avoid I P O BROS which was giving ground. THE AZURE then raced tight between I P O BROS and AMAZING AWARD for some distance thereafter. Near the 200 Metres was shifted to the inside of SATIRICAL FAN to continue into clear running. Over the concluding stages THE AZURE could not be ridden out when held up behind RUN RUN TIMING.
8 4 SATIRICAL FAN (J214) After the event J Orman reported that his mount raced keenly and hung out throughout the early and middle stages and near the 1000 Metres shifted out when being steadied away from ICONICAL. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
9 9 RAGING RAPIDS (J228) Bumped at the start.
10 7 I P O BROS (K193) Fractious in the starting gates, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
11 12 QUICK QUICK WIN (K102) Noted to have blood at the mouth on arrival at the Start, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. The performance of QUICK QUICK WIN, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. As this was the second consecutive occasion that QUICK QUICK WIN had finished tailed out, the horse will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in consecutive barrier trials and be subjected to an official veterinary examination which must include additional diagnostic assessments. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
WV-A 6 SWAGGER BRO (K089) Reared after being placed in the starting gates and sat down behind. Was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said the horse was lame in its left hind leg and found not to be suitable to race. Acting on this advice SWAGGER BRO was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. The Stewards ruled that SWAGGER BRO will be required to attend barrier practice to the satisfaction of the Starter prior to performing satisfactorily in a barrier trial and being subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
