Racing Incident Report
GIFT was withdrawn on 17.5.04 on veterinary grounds (lame right fore). Before being permitted to race again, GIFT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After being boxed, FLYING BISHOP broke through, was immediately restrained and returned behind the barrier where it was inspected by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion the horse was suitable to race. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported FLYING BISHOP had minor bleeding in the left nostril. An endoscopic examination showed the horse not to be an official bleeder. On jumping, IDOL got its head up and lost a significant amount of ground. Shortly after the start, SHANGHAI KING, KA KA WIN, CONNOISSEUR'S LOVE and CHIU CHOW BROTHER were crowded for room between FLYING BISHOP and WEALTHY TREASURE which was carried out by VROOM VROOM which on jumping shifted ground. Near the 1700 Metres, CHIU CHOW BROTHER was steadied when crowded for room inside FLYING BISHOP (O Doleuze) which shifted in when not properly clear. O Doleuze was advised to exercise more care. O Doleuze pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 1600 Metres he shifted in when not clear of CONNOISSEUR'S LOVE, causing that horse to lose its rightful running and be checked. O Doleuze was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday 7 June 2004 on which day he may resume race riding (4 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin meeting next Saturday 22 May 2004. Near the 1500 Metres, KA KA WIN was steadied and lost its position when crowded for room inside FLYING BISHOP which shifted in when not properly clear. O Doleuze was severely reprimanded and told he should exercise more care. In the early and middle stages, WEALTHY TREASURE and VROOM VROOM proved difficult to settle. Making the Home Turn, VROOM VROOM hung out. In the early part of the Straight, HEALTHY WEALTHY shifted out. In the Straight, IDOL tailed out. The performance of IDOL was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, IDOL will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. IDOL and CONNOISSEUR'S LOVE were sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of IDOL and CONNOISSEUR'S LOVE after the race did not show any significant findings. HEALTHY WEALTHY and WEALTHY TREASURE were sent for sampling.
