Racing Incident Report

ASALI was withdrawn by order of the Stewards on 7.2.05 acting on veterinary advice (bled from both nostrils after track work) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter STARDANE. FIVE GRAINS, CLASSIC DELIGHT, BETTER BOY and CELEBRATION were slow to begin. STABLE MAIL, which was standing badly, was slow to begin. DAVE'S BEST was slow to begin, then raced wide and without cover in the early stages and after the 1200 Metres was steadied, taken back and shifted in to a position behind SEASONS TREASURE. At the 1400 Metres, PRETTY TRIO got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of ABLE KNIGHT (C Soumillon) which shifted in when not properly clear. C Soumillon was reprimanded and told to exercise more care. After this incident, PRETTY TRIO proved difficult to settle. In the early stages, STARDANE hung out. Approaching and making the turn at the 800 Metres, CLASSIC DELIGHT got its head up, hung out and near the 800 Metres shifted ground and was checked away from the heels of ABLE KNIGHT. Some inconvenience was caused to BETTER BOY which was following and also PRETTY TRIO which was carried out when not clear of EXPECTATIONS which was steadied away from that horse's heels. After this, CLASSIC DELIGHT continued to hang out for the remainder of the race. Near the 700 Metres, SOPRANO was crowded for room between SEASONS TREASURE and FIVE GRAINS which was proving difficult to settle and shifted out away from the heels of BETTER BOY after initially being carried out slightly by that horse. On straightening, DAVE'S BEST was bumped and carried wider by FLYING BISHOP which was endeavouring to shift to the outside of SEASONS TREASURE. FLYING BISHOP was disappointed for this run on straightening and shifted in. Near the 300 Metres, STABLE MAIL was steadied and shifted to the outside of the heels of STARDANE which was giving ground. Over the concluding stages, FIVE GRAINS was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of BETTER BOY. Because of this, FIVE GRAINS was not ridden out to the winning post as it normally would be. CELEBRATION and FIVE GRAINS were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of CELEBRATION and FIVE GRAINS after the race did not show any significant findings. BETTER BOY, PRETTY TRIO and ABLE KNIGHT were sent for sampling.
