Racing Incident Report

On jumping, TRIUMPHANT GLORY blundered. MAVERICK began awkwardly and lost ground. SUPER FIGHTER was slow into stride. Shortly after the start, SPECIAL LENGTH, which had been slow to begin, was checked when crowded for room between TRIUMPHANT GLORY and FAT CHOY FOREVER which on jumping was carried wider by UNIVERSAL KOMISSAR. Also shortly after the start, WIKI WIKI was steadied when crowded for room between HAPPY WINNING and SUPER PEARL which shifted out after making contact with TRIUMPHANT GLORY. Near the 800 Metres, STRAWBERRY KISSES, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of FAT CHOY FOREVER. STRAWBERRY KISSES then shifted out and caused some inconvenience to SUPER FIGHTER which was carried wider. Near the 600 Metres, WIKI WIKI, which was racing awkwardly with its head on the side, shifted out and was steadied away from the heels of MR GENKI (F Coetzee) which at this time shifted in when not properly clear. In the circumstances, no action was taken, however, F Coetzee was advised to exercise care. After this incident, MR GENKI hung out in the middle stages. Over about the last 100 Metres, MAVERICK was steadied when not able to obtain clear running inside CROISSANT which was giving ground. Throughout the race, SUPER PEARL hung in. Y T Cheng (CROISSANT) was unable to offer any explanation for the poor performance of that horse. He said he obtained a forward position as instructed, however, when placed under pressure after straightening the horse failed to respond to his riding. UNIVERSAL KOMISSAR and CROISSANT were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of UNIVERSAL KOMISSAR and CROISSANT after the race did not show any significant findings. FAT CHOY FOREVER and SUPER FIGHTER were sent for sampling.
