Racing Incident Report

LUCKY SUPERSTAR began awkwardly and lost ground. SHINING DRAGON began awkwardly. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, THE FACULTY was steadied and shifted in to a position behind CHINOOK with cover. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, NICKU NICKU was steadied to avoid the heels of SHINING DRAGON (Apprentice C K Tong) which when shifting to the fence was being steadied. Apprentice Tong was advised to exercise more care. Near the 1300 Metres, CHINOOK got its head up when close to the heels of OLIVE OR TWIST. In the early stages, JUST VICTORY raced wide and without cover and after the 1100 Metres went forward and crossed to race outside the leader. Apprentice C K Tong said after reaching the lead he was able to steady the tempo of the race to suit his mount, however, when JUST VICTORY went forward and joined him near the 1000 Metres, he was required to make some use of SHINING DRAGON to maintain the lead. He said whilst the pace of the race was not that quick in the middle stages, SHINING DRAGON would not properly relax for him with JUST VICTORY racing to his outside and gave ground shortly after entering the Home Straight. SHINING DRAGON was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SHINING DRAGON after the race did not show any significant findings. OLIVE OR TWIST, CHINA WORLD and RED BARON were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 20 January 2005)
SWEETIE was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon at the stables of Trainer L Ho this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the left hind leg. Before being allowed to race again, SWEETIE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
