Racing Incident Report
As the start was effected, TIRAMISU, which had been fractious, lunged forward and broke open the front gate of its stall momentarily ahead of the remaining gates releasing. As a result of this, TIRAMISU began awkwardly and made contact with MULTI MILLIONS which on jumping shifted out. Shortly after the start, GALLANT FALCON and MASTERY were steadied when crowded for room between GOOD TRIO and ORIENTAL, both of which shifted ground. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, DREAMS COME TRUE was checked when crowded for room inside GOOD TRIO (C Soumillon) which momentarily shifted in. ORIENTAL, which was following DREAMS COME TRUE, was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of that horse. C Soumillon was severely reprimanded and advised in similar circumstances he would be expected to exercise more care. Making the turn near the 1000 Metres, GOOD TRIO commenced to hang in away from TIRAMISU which shifted in slightly. GOOD TRIO then hung in badly and shifted towards the rail when not clear of CLASSA WIN, causing that horse to be crowded for room. C Soumillon, the rider of GOOD TRIO, then checked his mount and shifted it out to relieve the pressure he had been applying to CLASSA WIN. When GOOD TRIO was shifted out, DREAMS COME TRUE, which was following, was steadied. Near the 800 Metres, MULTI MILLIONS was steadied to avoid the heels of ORIENTAL which shifted in slightly. Near the 300 Metres, Apprentice C K Tong (LUCKY STALLION) dropped his whip. Near the 200 Metres, DREAMS COME TRUE and GOOD TRIO bumped. Also near the 200 Metres, ORIENTAL was steadied away from the heels of GALLANT FALCON. After this, ORIENTAL lay in and because of this E Saint-Martin, its rider, was not able to ride his mount out as he normally would. For the major part of the race, FORTUNE BOY raced ungenerously, got its head up and hung out. GOOD TRIO was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of GOOD TRIO after the race did not show any significant findings. DREAMS COME TRUE and MULTI MILLIONS were sent for sampling.
