Racing Incident Report

PHOENIX FORTUNE began awkwardly and bumped the outside gate of its stall. SHABU SHABU began awkwardly. PACIFIC ALLIANCE began awkwardly and lost ground. In the early stages, STRIKE TO WIN raced wide and without cover and near the 1200 Metres became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by FANTASTICO which was proving difficult to settle and shifted out when close to the heels of DANEHILL WARRIOR. After this, STRIKE TO WIN continued forward and shifted across to race outside the leader. Making the first turn, FREEBIRD hung out. In the middle stages, FANTASTICO continued to prove difficult to settle and shifted out to race in a three wide position without cover. After the 200 Metres, SHABU SHABU was steadied and shifted in when disappointed for running between FLYING SUCCESS and PACIFIC ALLIANCE, both of which shifted ground. After this, SHABU SHABU was awkwardly placed close to the heels of FLYING SUCCESS in the run to the winning post and could not be fully tested. R Fradd (CITI CENTRE) reported he was concerned with the action of the horse in the Straight and because of this he did not ride it out to the end of the race. CITI CENTRE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, CITI CENTRE was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said there were no significant findings. The performance of CITI CENTRE was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, CITI CENTRE will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SIR OCTAVIUS, PHOENIX FORTUNE and FREEBIRD were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 20 January 2005)
CITI CENTRE, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. CITI CENTRE was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer A Lee this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be mildly lame in the left front leg. As previously advised, CITI CENTRE will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being permitted to race again.
