Racing Incident Report

When the gates opened, DIVINE FEELING bounded in the air and lost ground. KING OF FIELD began awkwardly, bumped the inside gate of its stall and lost ground. ROMANTIC SYMPHONY was slow to begin. Near the 1700 Metres, ROMANTIC SYMPHONY was checked for room between DONGGUAN VICTORY which had improved on its inside and HAPPY CONTENDER which shifted in when racing tight inside VICTORY TREASURE which at this time improved inside the heels of EL PRADO STAR which itself was shifting in. Although the check to ROMANTIC SYMPHONY was one of some significance, the Stewards did believe there were a number of contributing circumstances and therefore no action was taken. LUCKY SUPERSTAR, which was following, was steadied and shifted out to avoid ROMANTIC SYMPHONY. Near the 1400 Metres, ROMANTIC SYMPHONY was steadied away from the heels of LUCKY SUPERSTAR which itself was being steadied away from the heels of DONGGUAN VICTORY. In the middle stages, LUCKY SUPERSTAR continued to race awkwardly when close to the heels of DONGGUAN VICTORY. Also in the middle stages, HAPPY CONTENDER proved difficult to settle. At the 700 Metres, TREASURE FIELD was crowded for room between OUT OF MY WAY and SEA TREASURE which shifted out away from the heels of EL PRADO STAR. For some distance after the 400 Metres, SEA TREASURE was held up and unable to improve between EL PRADO STAR and SNIPER. After the 100 Metres, OUT OF MY WAY and TREASURE FIELD were carried wider by SNIPER which got its head on the side and shifted out. For the major part of the Straight, SHENANEGAN was unable to obtain clear running and because of this was not properly tested. SYLLABUS and SNIPER were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that EL PRADO STAR had lost its right hind plate.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 9 May 2005)
SHENANEGAN was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer D J Hall yesterday morning. He said he noted the horse to have a strain of the left fore suspensory ligament. Before being permitted to race again, SHENANEGAN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
