Racing Incident Report
JOYFUL SPIRIT began awkwardly. BLUE STITCH was slow to begin and was then bumped by SAN LORENZO which was also a little slow to begin and shifted out abruptly after being bumped by WEALTHY which on jumping shifted ground. As a consequence, both BLUE STITCH and SAN LORENZO lost ground. Near the 1400 Metres, SAN LORENZO got its head up and became unbalanced when being steadied away from the heels of RED PEPPER. After the 400 Metres, SAN LORENZO blundered, became unbalanced and shifted out. D Whyte (WEALTHY TREASURE) said his mount travelled well in the early stages and handled the track as it had done in the past. He said after straightening when he asked WEALTHY TREASURE to improve, the horse failed to respond to his riding and in his opinion raced like a tired horse. WEALTHY TREASURE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of WEALTHY TREASURE after the race did not show any significant findings. WEALTHY, PRETTY TRIO and BUMPER BUMPER were sent for sampling.
