Racing Incident Report

On jumping, SPLENDID SAILS blundered badly and lost ground. TO THE POINT was a little slow to begin and was then bumped by CAGA BOY which shifted in. Shortly after the start, CALCANDO was crowded for room between TSUNAMI and UNIVERSAL KOMISSAR, both of which shifted ground. Approaching the turn at the 800 Metres, TO THE POINT raced ungenerously, got its head up and shifted out. Near the 800 Metres, DR HAENSLER was steadied to avoid the heels of TO THE POINT which at this time shifted back in. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, HAPPY ALL AROUND, which had improved into an awkward position inside the heels of HUANG PU DRAGON, was steadied when crowded for room between OPERA MAGIC and HUANG PU DRAGON which was hanging in. No action was taken. On straightening TSUNAMI was steadied and shifted to the outside of A-TACK which at this time commenced to give ground. Near the winning post, CALCANDO got its head on the side and shifted wider on the track. Throughout the race, HUANG PU DRAGON hung in. A-TACK raced wide and without cover throughout and in the Straight gave ground. A-TACK was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, A-TACK was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. The performance of A-TACK, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, A-TACK will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. C Munce (CALCANDO) said the intention from a wide barrier had been to ride the horse with cover if possible. He said he thought this would be around midfield. He said after beginning well it shortly after the start became apparent to him that he would not be able to obtain a position with cover, therefore near the 1000 Metres he allowed CALCANDO to go forward and cross to lead. AMBITIOUS LEADER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of AMBITIOUS LEADER after the race did not show any significant findings. CALCANDO and HAR HAR CHARMS were sent for sampling.
