Racing Incident Report

PROGRESSING TIMES was slow to begin. On jumping, BAUHINIA and CHATER DE LAGO bumped. Shortly after the start, BAUHINIA lost ground when crowded for room between DURABLE and CHATER DE LAGO which had its head on the side and shifted out. When CHATER DE LAGO was straightened, it was then ridden along but failed to muster speed. In the early stages, NICKU NICKU was taken across behind runners. For some distance after passing the winning post on the first occasion, TIRAMISU was awkwardly placed inside the heels of SPACED. At the 1200 Metres, BAUHINIA got its head up and shifted out when being steadied away from the heels of G-ONE LEADING. After this, BAUHINIA was ridden along to go forward to avoid being caught wide. After the 1200 Metres, CHATER DE LAGO was steadied away from the heels of ALL OUR WAY. After the 700 Metres, SEVENS HEAVEN was steadied away from the heels of BAUHINIA (S Dye) which shifted in when not properly clear. S Dye was reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. On straightening, ALL OUR WAY was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of G-ONE LEADING. Prior to the 200 Metres, CHATER DE LAGO, which was commencing to close the race off, was steadied and shifted to the outside of PROGRESSING TIMES which at this time shifted in in an endeavour to find clear running. At the 100 Metres, CHATER DE LAGO was then steadied and shifted to the inside of SEVENS HEAVEN which was giving ground, then shortly afterwards further to the inside of BAUHINIA. As a consequence of this, CHATER DE LAGO was not fully tested. At the 200 Metres, AWESOME DRAGON was bumped by PURPLE GOLD which when giving ground got its head on the side and shifted in. At the 150 Metres, B Prebble (DURABLE) momentarily dropped his left rein. In the Straight, ALL OUR WAY hung in, near the 50 Metres shifted ground abruptly, obliging Apprentice K T Yeung, its rider, to stop riding and straighten. When questioned about the poor performance of G-ONE LEADING, D Whyte said the horse did not show its usual early speed. He said as a consequence of this he was not able to cross SPACED which was racing to his inside and was obliged to travel in a four wide position in the early stages. He said after the 1100 Metres he came back to a position to follow SPACED, however, G-ONE LEADING was not travelling as well as it usually does. He said after the 700 Metres he was again left racing wide and without cover and when he endeavoured to improve his position, G-ONE LEADING responded only fairly, then in the Straight appeared to shorten in its action and gave ground quickly. G-ONE LEADING was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. A veterinary inspection of G-ONE LEADING after the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, G-ONE LEADING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. DURABLE and ALL OUR WAY were sent for sampling.
