Racing Incident Report

NATURAL NINE began awkwardly and lost ground. THE GOODIES was slow to begin. After the 1000 Metres, KEY WINNER got its head up and shifted out when being steadied away from the heels of ALL TIME HIGH. CLASSIC REUNION, which was following, was steadied in consequence. After the 800 Metres, SANBENITO was checked when crowded for room inside KEY WINNER which when being ridden along to maintain its position shifted in momentarily. At the 300 Metres, RIGHT FRAAR, which had been experiencing difficulty finding clear running, was steadied and shifted to the inside of THE GOODIES to obtain clear running. After the 250 Metres, CLASSIC REUNION was hampered and carried wider by THE GOODIES which at this time shifted to the outside of BRILLIANT ONE into clear running. At the 200 Metres, ROMANTIC GREEN was checked to avoid the heels of CLASSIC REUNION which was carried wider by THE GOODIES (S Dye) which shifted out away from BRILLIANT ONE. S Dye was reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. Throughout the race, SOLAR travelled wide and without cover. CLASSIC REUNION was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, CLASSIC REUNION was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. BUTTERFIELD, NATURAL NINE and FAIR WIN were sent for sampling.
