Racing Incident Report
TRAVEL GUIDE blundered at the start and after being ridden along in the early stages was then taken across behind runners passing the 1500 Metres. From a wide draw, JUGGERNAUT was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Passing the 1300 Metres, JUGGERNAUT was awkwardly placed close to the heels of YOUNG HERO which shifted in when barely clear. Rounding the Home Turn, ROYAL PUMPKIN was momentarily crowded for room inside VITALITY EXPRESS which shifted in. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of ROYAL PUMPKIN, Apprentice C Y Ho stated that the horse travelled only fairly during the race and after receiving minor interference rounding the Home Turn initially responded to his riding in the Straight, however, ROYAL PUMPKIN’s run ended short of the line. A veterinary inspection of ROYAL PUMPKIN after the race did not show any significant findings. OTTIMO and VITALITY EXPRESS were sent for sampling.
