He added that, in his opinion, the horse did not feel comfortable in its action. Trainer K L Man stated that SPANGLE FORTUNE had worked well leading up to the event and Jockey Purton reported to him that the horse resented the kickback on the All Weather surface. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, SPANGLE FORTUNE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination which must include additional diagnostic assessments.

Approaching the winning post was placed in restricted room between MR ALADDIN and ALL EYES ON ME which shifted out slightly. After the event K Teetan reported that his instructions were to take up a forward position off the speed and at the same time gain some cover. He added that for him to carry out those instructions he ended up behind GO GO GO which was unable to continue with a forward position into the race and therefore he was obliged to settle further back in the field than he would have liked.

After the race an endoscopic examination was conducted on RELIABLE PROFIT at the request of Trainer C S Shum. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed that the horse was displaying an epiglottic entrapment.

4 1 FUN TOGETHER (H041) 10 C L Chau (-2) When questioned regarding his riding tactics in the Home Straight, particularly from the 500 Metres to near the 300 Metres C L Chau explained that he was mindful that the horse was weighted with 133 lbs today, being first up from a spell and was obliged to race extremely wide and without cover for the majority of the event. He added for this reason he was reluctant to put his mount under too much pressure in the early part of the Home Straight with a view to assisting it to finish the race off. He said, in his opinion, FUN TOGETHER would derive benefit from its first up run today.

3 6 AUDACIOUS PURSUIT (K398) 5 L Ferraris At declaration time, L Ferraris was declared as the rider of both AUDACIOUS PURSUIT and NEWBORN MIRACLE. It was established that L Ferraris had a firm commitment to ride AUDACIOUS PURSUIT. As such, the Stewards permitted A Atzeni to be substituted as the rider of NEWBORN MIRACLE. For this declaration error, Jockey Ferraris was fined $2,000. Jumped a little awkwardly. After leaving the 500 Metres was unable to improve its position before shifting out approaching the 350 Metres to obtain clear running and forced SMILING FALCON a little wider. Approaching the 200 Metres was bumped by ROMAN CROWN which shifted out.
14 7 SMILING FALCON (K459) 7 H Bentley A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, SMILING FALCON will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
2 8 YOUNG BRAVO (K178) 2 J Orman Slow to begin. When questioned regarding his riding tactics in the early part of the Home Straight, particularly between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres J Orman explained that at that time he was weighing up his options as to what run to take when held up behind STRATHPEFFER. He added that STRATHPEFFER commenced to shift out near the 300 Metres which allowed him to then improve to the inside of STRATHPEFFER and put his mount under his normal vigorous riding. After passing the 300 Metres was held up behind FUN TOGETHER before shifting out approaching the 200 Metres to obtain clear running and in doing so bumped AUDACIOUS PURSUIT.

The Stewards informed Apprentice Wong that she had erred on this occasion and should be mindful to ensure that her mounts are ridden in a manner that gain the best possible placing in the finish. 8 14 BLUE BARON (J448) 13 K Teetan Near the 500 Metres lay in under pressure and was steadied away from the heels of FIT FOR BEAUTY. 6 6 FAST RESPONDER (J295) 14 J Orman L Hewitson (METRO POWER) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that after passing the 500 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out leaving insufficient room for PACKING BOLE and FAST RESPONDER which were racing to his outside, resulting in FAST RESPONDER being checked and losing its rightful running. L Hewitson was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Sunday, 26 October 2025 at Sha Tin. In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his very good race riding record.
