Racing Incident Report

RIGHT ON jumped awkwardly with its head up. BEST NEWS was slowly away. On jumping, SINCERELY YOURS and MR HONOUR came together. Just after straightening, MR HONOUR, which was giving ground, was checked to avoid the heels of SINCERELY YOURS which was taken out slightly by CLEAR MASTER. The Stewards were satisfied that the riding of J Egan (FLORAL CHEERS) in the run to the finish did not affect the horse's position. J Egan himself acknowledged that he had misjudged the finishing line on this occasion and he was therefore advised it is in his interests and in the interests of all to ride his mounts out at least hands and heels right to the end of the race whenever possible. Apprentice S K Sit (TRY YOUR BEST) explained he had been instructed by the Trainer this morning from a difficult gate and with known pace on in the race, he should not go forward too soon, but try and improve his position quickly after entering the Back Straight. Apprentice S K Sit said in accordance with the instructions, shortly after entering the Back Straight he shifted out to be four wide and went forward. Mr T W Leung, Trainer of TRY YOUR BEST, confirmed that these were the instructions given and his only criticism of the ride would be that Apprentice S K Sit probably went too soon in the Back Straight, but bearing in mind the relative inexperience of the Apprentice, he was prepared to accept this. On this occasion the evidence submitted by Apprentice S K Sit and Mr Leung was accepted. QUI VIVRA VERRA was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
