Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the track, WINMARK was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. He said the horse was sore in its off side elbow and in his opinion not fit to race. Accordingly WINMARK was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before the race, the Veterinary Surgeon noted that ELITE was suffering from a mild skin complaint over its near side flank. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who discussed the situation with the Assistant Trainer and it was then decided ELITE was suitable to race. On jumping, FORTUNE GLORY was checked when crowded between CHUK WAY which shifted out and TELECOM TWIN which shifted in. ALLEZ ALLEZ left the gates awkwardly. Turning out of the Straight the first time, ELITE was checked when crowded between CHUK WAY and SOUNDS GOOD (E Legrix) which shifted in when close to the heels of FUN MANAGER. The Stewards were unable to attribute responsibility for the check to ELITE to any rider or riders and no direct action was taken, however, E Legrix was advised he should do more to protect his fellow riders. After being checked, ELITE shifted out away from CHUK WAY and for the rest of the race was obliged to travel wide and without any cover. About the 1000 Metres, PRETTY BABY, which had a tendency at this stage to be pulling, was checked to avoid the heels of STAR OF WAH YAN. Just after straightening, FORTUNE GLORY was checked and shifted out when disappointed for running between FUN MANAGER and TELECOM TWIN. In the early part of the Straight, WE KNOW WHEN was steadied and shifted in to avoid ALLEZ ALLEZ. For most of the race, TELECOM TWIN hung in. SOUNDS GOOD was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
