Racing Incident Report

About the 1200 Metres, LEGEND'S GLORY, which had a tendency to be pulling, was momentarily unbalanced when racing close to the heels of MAJESTIC WARRIOR. On straightening, CYBER GULCH was unbalanced and shifted in when awkward on the heels of EXCEPTIONAL. Near the 200 Metres, BRILLIANT LEADER was steadied when momentarily crowded by CYBER GULCH which shifted in to go forward. When asked about the improved performance of ZABETTE, Mr T K Ng said at the end of last season the horse had been operated on by the Club's Veterinary Surgeon to correct a paralysed larynx. He said this year the horse in its early runs was being ridden somewhere in the middle and the riders had been instructed to try and settle the horse which in the past had a tendency to pull, but at its last start from a good gate on the All Weather Track ZABETTE had been ridden forward and that run in his opinion was encouraging. He said tonight he instructed H K Yim to take ZABETTE to the lead. He said he had hoped the horse would run well tonight but for it to win was a surprise. When asked about the disappointing run of MONZA KING, E Saint-Martin said the horse was racing up a grade tonight, but he had expected it would run well and overall he was very disappointed with its performance. He said although the pace was slow, MONZA KING travelled satisfactorily, at about the 600 Metres when put under pressure to go forward, MONZA KING did not respond as he hoped. He was unable to put forward any real explanation for the run. MONZA KING was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
