Racing Incident Report

After being boxed, NATURALLY KING became fractious and broke open the front gates of its stall, but did not break through. NATURALLY KING was slowly away. Before being allowed to race again, NATURALLY KING will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. D Whyte (ALWAYS ZIETEN) said after being boxed, the horse became restless, was inclined to be getting down behind. Accordingly he sought the assistance from an attendant with the horse's head. After this he said ALWAYS ZIETEN did stand better, but continued on occasions to endeavour to get down behind. He said he called several times to have an attendant take hold of the horse's tail, but before this was done, the gates were opened and just as they were opening, ALWAYS ZIETEN did shift back, accordingly came out very awkwardly and lost considerable ground. After missing the start, in the opinion of the Stewards, D Whyte misconducted himself in that he made gestures towards the Club's Official Starter, Mr P Waldron. Accordingly D Whyte was fined $10,000. On the latter part of the turn, CYBER WISDOM was held up behind WELL CONTEND. In the Straight, ALWAYS ZIETEN was inclined to get its head on the side and hang in when close to the hindquarters of HONEST STEED. As a consequence of this, at one stage D Whyte stopped riding and changed his whip hand. After the 200 Metres, NEW CENTURY, which was hanging in and giving ground, was steadied when crowded for room between WINMARK and SKY HAWK, both of which shifted some ground. Throughout the race, NEW CENTURY hung in. Y T Cheng (CYBER WISDOM) was reprimanded for a celebratory gesture before the line. He was told whilst the Stewards accept exuberance, it must be contained at least until after the winning post. ALWAYS ZIETEN was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing. After the race, W Woods (WELL CONTEND) said the horse made abnormal breathing noises during the run. WELL CONTEND was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said he was unable to find any significant abnormalities.
