Racing Incident Report

On jumping, DON SEBASTIAN was checked rather severely when tightened for room between MASCOT TREASURE which shifted in after being bumped by DIAMOND TALENTS and UNIVERSAL CHARGER which left the gates awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. About the 300 Metres, LUCKY LAD was steadied and shifted in to avoid BLACK KNIGHT. When being ridden out in the Straight, CENTURY HORSE was inclined to shift out away from DANRIVA. Because of this, G Mossé momentarily stopped riding and changed his whip hand. F Coetzee (DIAMOND TALENTS) explained whilst the stable was aware there was some speed in the race, the intention today was to lead or at least be towards the front. He said after being boxed, DIAMOND TALENTS was unusually relaxed, he did endeavour to "liven" the horse up, however, he was careful not to put it too much "on the toe" as it had a history of being difficult at the gates. He said when the gates opened, DIAMOND TALENTS came out slowly, he pushed along in an endeavour to go forward as instructed, but the horse did not muster the speed as he thought it should and got well out of its ground. UNIVERSAL CHARGE, DANRIVA and CENTURY HORSE were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted that ROUND THE WORLD was making a respiratory noise. This had been previously reported. The Veterinary Officer said the horse's condition in his opinion is stable.
