Racing Incident Report

While being transported to the course, SEA CORAL sustained abrasions to the right hock. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Officer who considered it suitable to race. A RUN OF LUCK began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of PRETTY PRETTY. SPEEDY CHAMPION was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, BEIJING DOLLAR, which had been a little slow to begin, was bumped by POT BLACK which shifted in. Approaching the first turn, SEA CORAL began to over-race, got its head up, shifted out from behind PRETTY PRETTY and was checked when awkward on the heels of BEIJING DOLLAR. A RUN OF LUCK and SPEEDY CHAMPION, which were following, were inconvenienced. Approaching the 200 Metres, MUNDAHISH was steadied when disappointed for running between AFFAIRE D'AMOUR and POT BLACK which shifted in slightly. For some distance after the 200 Metres, MUNDAHISH was then held up for running between these horses and to obtain a clear run after the 100 Metres was again steadied and shifted to the outside of POT BLACK. After the 200 Metres, THE MOST DAUNTLESS, which had commenced to give ground, was steadied when crowded for room between INVENTOR and FAMOUS BRAND (E Saint-Martin) which shifted in when not clear. In the circumstances, E Saint-Martin was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care. As a result of this incident, BEIJING DOLLAR, which was racing to the inside of INVENTOR, was steadied and shifted in when disappointed for running between INVENTOR and MUNDAHISH. Over the concluding stages, BEIJING DOLLAR, which was laying in, was not able to obtain clear running to the inside of AFFAIRE D'AMOUR and consequently was not ridden out to the line. MUNDAHISH, FAMOUS BRAND and SMILEY WIN were sent for sampling.
