Racing Incident Report

KING OF SPADES was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, BRAVE KNIGHT was checked when crowded for room between SINCERE AND FAITH and FORTUNE TONE which shifted out abruptly. After the 200 Metres, EVEN TILDEN, which was giving ground, was steadied when crowded for room by KING OF SPADES which itself was momentarily crowded when improving into a narrow run on the inside of TABBRIS which shifted in slightly. No action was taken. R Fradd (BRAVE KNIGHT) was reprimanded for making a celebratory gesture prior to the winning post. S Dye (EVEN TILDEN) said the horse had led as anticipated, however, did not relax and in the middle stages was taken on. He said before straightening he became concerned EVEN TILDEN would not figure in the finish of the race and shortly afterwards commenced to give ground. He said the horse was crowded at the 200 Metres, but in the circumstances this had no bearing on its performance. He said the horse's work had been usual and in his opinion despite having previously trialed well on the surface, it did not today handle the All Weather Track and at this stage is clearly better suited to races run over the straight 1000 Metres. EVEN TILDEN was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, EVEN TILDEN was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No abnormalities were detected. FLAGS UP and FRAT RAT were sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of FLAGS UP and FRAT RAT after the race did not reveal any abnormalities. BRAVE KNIGHT and BRILLIANT ATTORNEY were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Report (released on 3 Mar. 2003) :
A veterinary examination of EVEN TILDEN, which performed poorly, immediately following the race did not reveal any significant findings. EVEN TILDEN was again examined by the Veterinary Surgeon yesterday at the stables of Trainer J Size. At this time it was found to be lame in the left fore leg. Before EVEN TILDEN can race again, it will be required to pass an official veterinary examination.
