Racing Incident Report

SILLY BOY was withdrawn on 17.11.03 on veterinary grounds (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter PRECIOUS MOMENTS. Before being allowed to race again, SILLY BOY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After arriving at the Start, it was noted SEA CORAL had blood present in its mouth. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. When an initial attempt was made to load JUST VICTORY, the bridle on the horse loosened. The bridle was refitted prior to the horse entering the stalls. JUST VICTORY began very awkwardly, got its head up and lost ground at the start. POSEIDON began awkwardly and bumped the inside gate of its stall. FORTUNE TONE, OPTIC FIT and BURST TO VICTORY were slow to begin. At the 600 Metres, FOREVER CHARMING, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of GOLD CHARM which momentarily lost ground when awkwardly placed inside the heels of NEWSWIRE which shifted in while hanging. No action was taken. Making the Home Turn and in the Straight, JUST VICTORY hung in. At the 200 Metres, D Whyte (FANTASTICO) dropped his whip. After the 100 Metres, FORTUNE TONE was shifted to the outside of MUNDAHISH into clear running. Over the concluding stages, when giving ground SEA CORAL shifted in and almost right on the winning post caused some crowding to MUNDAHISH. Because of this, SEA CORAL was not ridden out to the end of the race as it normally would be. In the Straight, NEWSWIRE hung in. FOREVER CHARMING, FANTASTICO and PRECIOUS MOMENTS were sent for sampling.
