SMILEY WIN, FOREVER CHARMING, CONGEE KING and GOOD BROTHER were slow to begin. WINNING SEASON began awkwardly. Shortly after the start, H K Yim (HANDSOME MAN) momentarily dropped his left rein. Near the 1000 Metres, FOREVER CHARMING got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of WINNING SEASON. Near the 700 Metres, SOUND LOVER was momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of HANDSOME MAN which shifted in when barely clear. At the 600 Metres, SMILEY WIN was steadied when crowded for room inside WINNING SEASON which got its head on the side and shifted in away from THE MOST DAUNTLESS which itself was laying in. The occurrence in the opinion of the Stewards was accidental. For some distance after this, SMILEY WIN continued to be awkwardly placed inside the heels of WINNING SEASON. For some distance after straightening, VICTORY MASTER was held up and unable to obtain clear running when behind MUNDAHISH and WINWIN COMBINATION. To obtain clear running near the 100 Metres, VICTORY MASTER was shifted to the outside of WINWIN COMBINATION. Approaching the 200 Metres, GREAT DRAGON was held up and unable to obtain clear running when behind THE MOST DAUNTLESS which was giving ground and inside SOUND LOVER. After the 200 Metres, SMILEY WIN had difficulty obtaining clear running and near the 100 Metres was momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of VICTORY MASTER which was shifting out to obtain clear running. Approaching the winning post, SMILEY WIN which when closing the race off only fairly was improving closer to the heels of WINWIN COMBINATION and therefore was not ridden out right to the line. THE MOST DAUNTLESS and GOOD BROTHER were sent for a clinical veterinary examination. Following the race, THE MOST DAUNTLESS was examined by the Veterinary Officer. An endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of blood and mucus in the trachea. Before being allowed to race again, THE MOST DAUNTLESS will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. Also following the race, GOOD BROTHER was examined by the Veterinary Officer. An endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of blood in the trachea. Before being permitted to race again, GOOD BROTHER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
