Racing Incident Report

After being boxed, A BETTER DRAGON became fractious. Before being permitted to race again, A BETTER DRAGON will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. ARRIBA-ARRIBA stood flat-footed at the start and was slow to begin. CITI CENTRE began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of A BETTER DRAGON. Making the turn at the 1300 Metres, ALLEZ ALLEZ was steadied when crowded for room by EL VIENTO (W Woods) which shifted in slightly. W Woods was advised to exercise more care. After the 600 Metres, EL VIENTO was steadied when disappointed for running between RICARDO and LUCKY ENCOUNTER. Just prior to straightening, ALLEZ ALLEZ was steadied when crowded for room by EL VIENTO which shifted in when endeavouring to improve on the inside of LUCKY ENCOUNTER. W Woods was severely reprimanded and advised in similar circumstances he would be expected to exercise far greater care than he had on this occasion. DANDY BUNNY was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of DANDY BUNNY after the race did not show any significant findings. RICARDO, OLIVE OR TWIST and BLACK KNIGHT were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 11 September 2003) :
After the race, DANDY BUNNY which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. DANDY BUNNY was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer S T Wong this morning and at this time was found to have a stiff restricted hind limb action.
Before racing again, DANDY BUNNY will be required to pass an official veterinary examination.
