Racing Incident Report

KNIGHT TEMPLAR was withdrawn on 9.9.03 on veterinary grounds (left fore capped elbow) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter SPEED WINNER (W M Lai). Before racing again, KNIGHT TEMPLAR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. PRINCELY HORSE, which was standing badly, began awkwardly and lost a considerable amount of ground at the start. WONDERFUL LIFE and LUCKY BIRD were slow to begin. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, ELEGANCE got its head up when being steadied in an endeavour to find a position closer to the rail. Near the 1300 Metres, FLYING SUCCESS was steadied when crowded for room between SPECIFIC SORCEROR which had improved to its inside and SPEED WINNER which shifted in slightly away from ELEGANCE which was being steadied in an endeavour to find a position with cover. In the circumstances, no action was taken. In the early stages, MEHBOOB THE THIRD raced wide and without cover and then after the 800 Metres was allowed to stride into a forward position. Near the 900 Metres, PRINCELY HORSE, which was laying in, was steadied away from the heels of FLYING SUCCESS. Near the 700 Metres, ELEGANCE, which was proving difficult to settle, was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of ETERNAL FUN which was laying in. Over the final 100 Metres, LONGMARK shifted out when under pressure. FRENCH CONNECTION and MEHBOOB THE THIRD were sent for sampling.
