Racing Incident Report

When being weighed prior to the race, CHARIOT OF WEI HAI shifted its left fore plate. The horse was re-plated and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. ELITE WIN was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, BLACK CARBINE was steadied away from the heels of SUPER WONGCHOY which shifted out slightly. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, FAT CHANCE became unbalanced. At the 1000 Metres, QUICK STEP shifted out and bumped SHOW BRAVELY when being steadied away from the heels of CHOICE AND CHANCE. Making the turn after the 1000 Metres, CHOICE AND CHANCE shifted out and bumped TIRAMISU (D Dunn). Shortly after entering the Back Straight, CHOICE AND CHANCE was carried in by TIRAMISU. In this incident, D Dunn raised his right elbow. D Dunn was told he should not continue with this practice. Near the 300 Metres, SUPER WONGCHOY was disappointed for running between TIRAMISU and QUICK STEP. To obtain clear running, SUPER WONGCHOY was shifted out. Near the 200 Metres, CHOICE AND CHANCE was steadied and shifted in when disappointed for running between TIRAMISU and CHARIOT OF WEI HAI which shifted out. As the Stewards were satisfied CHOICE AND CHANCE had not obtained rightful running between these horses, no action was taken. For some distance approaching the 200 Metres, QUICK STEP and TIRAMISU raced tight inside SHOW BRAVELY which was hanging in. After the 200 Metres, QUICK STEP was checked and TIRAMISU crowded for room when racing between SHOW BRAVELY (G Schofield) which shifted in slightly when hanging and CHARIOT OF WEI HAI (W Woods) which shifted out in the latter part of the incident. In the circumstances, no action was taken. However, G Schofield and W Woods were advised they should stop riding and straighten their mounts. Over the concluding stages, CHARIOT OF WEI HAI hung out and therefore was not ridden out to the end of the race as it normally would be. FAT CHANCE was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of FAT CHANCE after the race did not show any significant findings. TIRAMISU, SUPER WONGCHOY and STOIC were sent for sampling.
