Racing Incident Report

GOT IT RIGHT was withdrawn on 15.4.04 on veterinary grounds (right fore limb infection) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter GOLDEN SPIRIT. Before being permitted to race again, GOT IT RIGHT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. TOUCH DOWN was slow to begin. On jumping, OLIVE OR TWIST and OSCAR STAR bumped as a result of both horses shifting ground. After this, OLIVE OR TWIST was hard ridden to go forward, but failed to muster speed and consequently raced well back. Also on jumping, GOLD DIGGER was crowded for room between MAGNIFICENT and SIXTY SECONDS, both of which shifted ground. GOLDEN SPIRIT began awkwardly and shifted out. Making the first turn, OSCAR STAR raced three wide and without cover. Near the 1200 Metres, MAGNIFICENT, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of OSCAR STAR. Near the 1000 Metres, TOUCH DOWN was crowded for room inside MAGNIFICENT which at this time got its head on the side and shifted in away from the heels of OSCAR STAR. On straightening, OLIVE OR TWIST was disappointed for running between SIXTY SECONDS which was giving ground and MAGNIFICENT which shifted to the outside of the heels of WELL EXPRESS which was also giving ground. Apprentice P H Lo (SIXTY SECONDS) said he had been instructed to ride the horse in the first three if possible. He said SIXTY SECONDS began well, he immediately rode it along into a forward position, however, it made the turn near the 1000 Metres a little bit awkwardly and shifted out to a three wide position. He said after this EXULTATION which had been racing to his inside shifted to the fence into a two wide position. He said after the 800 Metres SIXTY SECONDS became unbalanced in its action and whilst he was able to maintain a forward position at that stage, he was under some pressure to do so. He said after the 600 Metres SIXTY SECONDS gave ground, however, he was unable to offer any explanation for the performance of the horse. SIXTY SECONDS was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of SIXTY SECONDS after the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, SIXTY SECONDS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. O Doleuze (QUICK STEP), which performed poorly, explained the horse in the past had shown a liking for Happy Valley, however, today did not appear to be suited racing on a track with some give in it and also which appeared to suit horses that were able to obtain a forward position. QUICK STEP was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, QUICK STEP was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said there were no significant findings. PRECIOUS SWEETIE and EXULTATION were sent for sampling.
