Racing Incident Report

On jumping, NOBLE HEART and CHECK MATE bumped. LUCKY SUPERSTAR was slow to begin. EXULTATION and KING OF SPADES began awkwardly. With the intentions to be ridden in a rearward position today from the outside gates, PRO JOY and DANEFACTOR were immediately steadied and shifted across behind runners to a position on the rail but at the rear. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, SIGHT CHAMPION and WYNDHAM PROFIT were steadied when momentarily crowded for room inside CHECK MATE which was carried in slightly by HIGHLAND DAWN which shifted in when only just clear. In the early stages, STEPS AHEAD proved difficult to settle. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, LUCKY SUPERSTAR hung in. At the 600 Metres, SHINING GEM (B Prebble) was checked severely when disappointed for running on the inside of KING OF SPADES (A Delpech) when attempting to shift to the outside of NOBLE HEART. No action was taken. However, B Prebble and A Delpech were advised to exercise care. WYNDHAM PROFIT made the Home Turn awkwardly and brushed the running rail. Over about the last 50 Metres, CHECK MATE, which was closing the race off, was unable to obtain clear running between PRO JOY and SHINING GEM which was shifting out gradually. Because of this, CHECK MATE was not ridden out over the concluding stages. Apprentice H W Lai reported STEPS AHEAD made an abnormal breathing noise on pulling up. STEPS AHEAD was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, STEPS AHEAD was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said there were no significant findings. SIGHT CHAMPION was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. A veterinary inspection of SIGHT CHAMPION after the race did not show any significant findings. NOBLE HEART and EXULTATION were sent for sampling.
