Racing Incident Report
TURF GOLD was withdrawn on 10.1.05 on veterinary grounds (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter JET RISE. Before being allowed to race again, TURF GOLD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. On jumping, HORACE'S HORSE was bumped by SALUT BEAUTE which shifted in with the intention of being ridden quietly from its wide draw tonight. As a result being bumped, HORACE'S HORSE shifted in and caused crowding on its inside to KE JIA WANG which lost its running and was checked. Shortly after this, HORACE'S HORSE became unbalanced after being bumped by CHAMP DE UNION which shifted out. FORTUNE WARRIOR began awkwardly. Making the turn near the 1000 Metres, FORTUNE WARRIOR was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of HEALTHY FRUITS. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, FORTUNE WARRIOR, which was awkwardly placed close to the heels of HEALTHY FRUITS, was crowded for room inside ISLAND SPIRIT which shifted in slightly. SALUT BEAUTE, which was following, was steadied and shifted out. For some distance after straightening, ISLAND SPIRIT was not able to obtain clear running when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SIGHT CHAMPION and tight inside JET RISE which was giving ground. Near the 200 Metres, S Sanders (HORACE'S HORSE) dropped his left rein. Near the 100 Metres, ISLAND SPIRIT, which was having difficulty obtaining clear running, was shifted to the outside of TRUST ME. When questioned, Y T Cheng (JET RISE) said he had been instructed to ride the horse in 4th or 5th position with cover. He said JET RISE began well from the outside draw and he pushed forward in the hope that he would be able to find a position behind the leaders, however, he was not able to do so as TRUST ME maintained a position to his inside. He said along the Back Straight whilst he was about a length in front of TRUST ME, in his opinion that horse would have gone forward with him had he endeavoured to cross to race outside the leader. Y T Cheng was told in similar circumstances he would be expected to ride with more initiative. JET RISE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, JET RISE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of mucus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, JET RISE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SIGHT CHAMPION was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SIGHT CHAMPION after the race did not show any significant findings. CHAMP DE UNION and HEALTHY FRUITS were sent for sampling.
