Racing Incident Report

FOREVER WIN began awkwardly, got its head up and lost ground. Shortly after the start, GLORIOUS RHYTHM was crowded for room between SUNNY DESERT and TELECOM SUPERBOSS, both of which shifted ground. Near the 800 Metres, JOYWIN COMBINATION became unbalanced and shifted out when close to the heels of COULDN'T CARE LESS. As a consequence of this, DESERT STRIKE was bumped and carried wider. Shortly after straightening, BAUHINIA and SEASONS KNACK bumped. Near the 200 Metres, SUNNY DESERT improved into a narrow run between TELECOM SUPERBOSS and COULDN'T CARE LESS which drifted in. After the 200 Metres, SEASONS KNACK, which was commencing to close the race off strongly, was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of CENAMIRA. Over the concluding stages, TELECOM SUPERBOSS was inclined to hang out and near the 50 Metres shifted ground and made contact with ON SHAN EXPRESS. Just prior to the winning post, COULDN'T CARE LESS was steadied away from the heels of GLORIOUS RHYTHM which drifted in. A Delpech (DESERT STRIKE) said he had been instructed to ride the horse back in the field. He said however DESERT STRIKE despite beginning a little awkwardly jumped into a forward position. He said he immediately took hold and shifted across to race outside GLORIOUS RHYTHM in a position he thought would leave him around midfield. He said when GLORIOUS RHYTHM did not shift across to the rail after passing the winning post on the first occasion and ON SHAN EXPRESS improved inside that horse, he was then left racing in a three wide position without cover. He said he was unaware that the field broke into two sections and there was the opportunity for him to come back behind GLORIOUS RHYTHM and obtain a position with cover and consequently he remained racing wide throughout. A Delpech was told his riding on DESERT STRIKE had come under notice and it is his responsibility to be aware of opportunities which present themselves in a race which would allow his mount a more favourable position in running and he must do his utmost to ensure when these opportunities exist he takes advantage of them. DESERT STRIKE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of DESERT STRIKE after the race did not show any significant findings. JOYWIN COMBINATION was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, JOYWIN COMBINATION was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said he noted the horse to be coughing and an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, JOYWIN COMBINATION will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. GLORIOUS RHYTHM, SUNNY DESERT and RAINBOW DIAMOND were sent for sampling.
