Racing Incident Report

H K Yim (SHANGHAI DELIGHT) was fined $2,000 for negligence in that he initially presented himself to weigh out for this race without a girth. FORTUNE MAPLE and STORMY RUNNER began awkwardly and lost ground. Shortly after the start, FORTUNE MAPLE was checked when crowded for room between STRAIGHT WIN and MILLENNIUM SUPREME which shifted out. Also shortly after the start, GLOBE MARK lost its position when racing between LIGHTING THE WORLD and KIWI DASH which shifted in slightly. Near the 900 Metres, LIGHTING THE WORLD, which shifted in abruptly to cross to the fence, became unbalanced. After this, PEACH BLOSSOM, which was following LIGHTING THE WORLD, became unbalanced and got its head up. Approaching the 800 Metres, GLOBE MARK became unbalanced when bumped by KIWI DASH which at this time got its head on the side and shifted in abruptly. On straightening, FAIRWAY FINDER was steadied when inclined to lay in close to the heels of SPOKESMAN. In the Straight, SPOKESMAN hung out and proved difficult to ride. Throughout the race, ARIGATO and KIWI DASH raced wide and without cover. The Stewards considered a protest/objection lodged by Apprentice H W Lai, the rider of MILLENNIUM SUPREME, which finished 4th, against PEACH BLOSSOM (C Williams) being declared the 2nd placegetter. Apprentice Lai had alleged interference to his mount inside the final 200 Metres. The Stewards considered whilst PEACH BLOSSOM did shift in after the 200 Metres, MILLENNIUM SUPREME, which was laying out, had not at this time properly established running to its inside. As a result of the shift from PEACH BLOSSOM, MILLENNIUM SUPREME was momentarily steadied and shifted out. After this, MILLENNIUM SUPREME was held up behind PEACH BLOSSOM which at this time got its head on the side and shifted out. As the Stewards were not satisfied MILLENNIUM SUPREME had properly established rightful running, the protest/objection was overruled. Accordingly the Judge's placings as semaphored were confirmed. FAIRWAY FINDER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of FAIRWAY FINDER after the race did not show any significant findings. SPOKESMAN, SHANGHAI DELIGHT and PEACH BLOSSOM were sent for sampling.
