Racing Incident Report

ISLAND SPIRIT began awkwardly. Near the 250 Metres, VICTORY TURBO, which was giving ground, was brushed by KA KA WIN which shifted out to improve. When questioned, C Williams (THOUSAND WINS) said after the 600 Metres KA KA WIN which he had been following was commenced to be hard ridden to improve. He said at this time he had MR BEAUTIFUL racing to his outside and he was awkwardly placed inside the hindquarters of that horse when racing in restricted room. He said approaching the Home Turn he was of the opinion MR BEAUTIFUL might shift further, causing him to be inconvenienced, he therefore elected to come back slightly to ensure he had comfortable racing room. He said after straightening he shifted to the outside of MR BEAUTIFUL and THOUSAND WINS closed the race off strongly. The explanation submitted by C Williams was reported. S Sanders (VICTORY TURBO) said he thought the horse would be able to lead in the race. He said VICTORY TURBO began satisfactorily from the outside gate, but then took time to muster speed in the initial stages and because of this he had to make some use of the horse to cross runners on his inside to race outside the leader, WIN HUNTER. He said VICTORY TURBO then took some time to relax. He said as a consequence of the work the horse had done in the early stages, VICTORY TURBO failed to finish the race off and was disappointing. VICTORY TURBO was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, VICTORY TURBO was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said there were no significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, VICTORY TURBO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. G Schofield (RED BARON) said in the initial stages he rode along to hopefully obtain a position somewhere in front of midfield. He said after the 1600 Metres TRUST ME which had drawn to his outside and had shown superior speed commenced to cross and at the same time ISLAND SPIRIT to his inside continued forward, he therefore elected to steady his mount and shift in behind that runner in an attempt to obtain a position with cover. He said after passing the winning post on the first occasion SPEEDING MOLLY was steadied to avoid the heels of ISLAND SPIRIT and as a consequence came back on his inside which meant he was not able to shift in behind that runner. He said after this RED BARON travelled in a three wide position without cover, after passing the 1000 Metres he endeavoured to shift to a position behind TRUST ME, however, was not clear of SPEEDING MOLLY and therefore was unable to do so. He said prior to straightening RED BARON did not respond to his riding and then on straightening SPEEDING MOLLY was able to shift out into clear running from his inside easily. He said in the Straight RED BARON failed to respond to his riding. RED BARON was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, RED BARON was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said there were no significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, RED BARON will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. KA KA WIN and ISLAND SPIRIT were sent for sampling.
