Racing Incident Report
SUPER GOAL MASTER and SHANGDONG SCHOLAR were slow to begin. LIMONCELLO began awkwardly and was then bumped by STARFINDER. FOREVER FORTUNE began awkwardly. C Soumillon (ABLE KNIGHT) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 1300 Metres he failed to take sufficient measures to prevent his mount from shifting in, thereby causing FOREVER FORTUNE to be carried in across the running of LIMONCELLO which as a result was checked. C Soumillon was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday 1 March 2007 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). This suspension is with immediate effect. In addition, C Soumillon was fined $35,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating one further raceday. Approaching and making the turn at the 800 Metres, VITALITY CHAMP hung out when racing without cover. SHANGDONG SCHOLAR made the turn near the 800 Metres awkwardly and lost ground. At the 200 Metres, PROPELLOR and WAFER KING were steadied when crowded for room between FOREVER FORTUNE which shifted in slightly and MY PRIDE which when giving ground shifted out. In the circumstances, no action was taken. Whilst the Stewards accepted PROPELLOR had been crowded for room at the 200 Metres, W M Lai was nonetheless reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out at least hands and heels to the end of the race where circumstances permit. For the major part of the race, LUCKY DRAGON travelled wide and without cover. PROPELLOR was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of PROPELLOR after the race did not show any significant findings. LUCKYME and FOREVER FORTUNE were sent for sampling.
