Racing Incident Report
JOYFUL WINNER and TIBER were withdrawn on 17.2.07 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (fever). Before being allowed to race again, JOYFUL WINNER and TIBER will both be subjected to an official veterinary examination. On jumping, HELENE PILLAGING knuckled. GOOD NATURE began awkwardly. At the 800 Metres, SANZIRO, which was proving difficult to settle, was steadied away from the heels of HAPPEE OWNER. In the early stages, SAN LORENZO, which was racing wide, was taken back in an endeavour to find a position with cover, however, at the 800 Metres was left racing without cover. In the middle stages, GOOD NATURE hung out. Over the concluding stages, SANZIRO hung out. When questioned regarding the poor performance of ROYAL DELIGHT, S Dye said at no stage of the race was the horse comfortable. He said at the 600 Metres he rode ROYAL DELIGHT along in an endeavour to maintain his position, however, the horse did not respond. He said in his opinion ROYAL DELIGHT did not appreciate racing inside other horses. He added during today's race ROYAL DELIGHT made an abnormal breathing noise which it had also done at its previous start, however, in his opinion the noise made by ROYAL DELIGHT today was of more significance. ROYAL DELIGHT and SAN LORENZO were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of ROYAL DELIGHT after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, SAN LORENZO was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, SAN LORENZO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. GOOD BA BA and GOLD STRIKER were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 21 February 2007)
ROYAL DELIGHT, which performed poorly, was examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison. He said at that time there were no significant findings. ROYAL DELIGHT was again examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison at the stables of Trainer C S Shum this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, ROYAL DELIGHT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
